ABBEY THEATRE TO BRING BACK SELL-OUT SHOW ‘AGES OF THE MOON’ BY SAM SHEPARD
STARS STEPHEN REA AND SEÁN MCGINLEY TO REPRISE ORIGINAL ROLES
13 – 18 November 2009
April 2009 – The Abbey Theatre has announced that its current sold-out show AGES OF THE MOON, written specifically for the theatre by the Pulitzer Prize winning American playwright, director and actor, Sam Shepard, will return to the venue for a two week run this Autumn. The play, which stars top Irish actors STEPHEN REA and SEÁN MCGINLEY, is in the final week of a hugely successful run at the Abbey’s smaller space, the Peacock Theatre, and, due to an unprecedented demand for tickets, will transfer to the main Abbey stage from Friday 13 until Saturday 28 November 2009.
In AGES OF THE MOON two old friends, Byron and Ames, re-unite one hot summer’s night. Over whiskey they sit, reflect and bicker about times gone by until fifty years of love, friendship and rivalry are put to the test at the barrel of a gun.
Directed by Irish director, Jimmy Fay, AGES OF THE MOON boasts costumes by Emmy-winning designer, Joan Bergin, lighting by Paul Keogan and set design by Brien Vahey.
