Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival which will run from 24th Sept – 11th Oct 2009 and is  once again sponsored by Ulster Bank.

- This year’s programme offers a wealth of Irish and international productions.

- For the first time the Festival will tour a production to 3 venues during the Festival.

- International productions include:  Direct from the deserts of India, The Manganiyar Seduction; Declan Donnellan’s version of Chekhov’s Three Sisters (Chekhov International Theatre Festival and Cheek by Jowl); Robert Lepage’s The Blue Dragon; National Theatre UK and Live Theatre Newcastle present Lee Hall’s hit The Pitmen Painters. Highlights in the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Cet Enfant (Compagnie Louis Brouillard) and Kamp from Hotel Modern.

- Major interactive light installation Playhouse which will illuminate Liberty Hall.


- Enough Talk -  A season of international physical theatre – DV8  present To Be Straight With You; The Age I’m In (Force Majeure -Australia)

- Real Lives Real Voices, A Season of Documentary Theatre: Radio Muezzin (Stefan Kaegi & Rimini Protokoll) ; Once And For All We’re Gonna Tell You Who We Are So Shut Up And Listen (Ontroerend Goed, Kopergietery and Richard Jordan Productions Ltd.).

- Irish productions include: The Corn Exchange new original work Freefall; Pan Pan Irish Premiere of The Crumb Trail; The Abbey Theatre presents the Druid production of the multi-award winning play by Enda Walsh – The New Electric Ballroom and a new work by Sebastian Barry Tales of Ballycumber; The Stomach Box presents No Worst There Is None in Newman House; and The Gate Theatre presents the world premiere of The Birds by Conor McPherson, adapted from the short story by Daphne Du Maurier.

- ReViewed is back – A showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Irish Theatre Institute; Buck Jones And The Body Snatchers; Nomad Theatre Network in association with Livin’ Dred Theatre Company of The Dead School which will tour to three suburban theatres during the Festival; ; Featherhead Productions, Slat; and Silver Stars (Brokentalkers).

- Late Night in Project Arts Centre A Woman In Progress sees the Festival debut of Ireland’s first lady of drag, Panti.

- The Family Season – presented by Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival and The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children, Gruppe 38’s Hans Christian, You Must Be An Angel; Gruppe 38 Hansel and Gretel; Songs From Above (Teater Refleksion and Teater My); Goodbye Mr Muffin (Teater Refleksion and De Røde Heste).

- An exciting programme of ancillary events is also planned for the Festival.
